Queens College: Building Futures for 80 Years

For over 81 years, Queens College (QC) has combined excellent educational programs with a vibrant extracurricular life. The College’s diverse community on campus and the numerous programs that take place off it — from internships to study abroad — offer unique learning experiences. Yet, thanks to its affordable tuition, 75 percent of QC graduates earn their degrees without any student loan debt.

Graduate On Time and Debt Free

The Princeton Review ranked Queens College a “Best Value College” in 2019, and Forbes and Money magazines have consistently praised QC for its outstanding academics, world-class faculty, generous financial aid packages, and affordable tuition. Over 60 percent of QC students benefit from financial aid, including grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study opportunities. The College is also a proud participant in New York State’s Excelsior Scholarship program, which provides free tuition to eligible students.

QC helps keep students on track. Incoming freshmen can take advantage of “QC in 4,” which offers students the tools, resources, and support they need to complete their degree in four years, saving them money and enabling them to jump-start their career or graduate studies. Students will work alongside an advisor to make sure they register for all the courses they’ll need each semester, ensuring their success.

Accelerated Graduate Degrees

The value doesn’t end there. Queens College now offers 26 accelerated graduate degree tracks. Starting in their senior year, students may take graduate-level courses that will count toward both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Students can earn their undergraduate and graduate degrees in as little as five years in such fields as business, art, education, science and more. Better still, seniors enrolled in the program pay undergraduate tuition rates on up to 12 credits in graduate coursework, saving time and money.

The Summer Advantage

Summer Session at Queens College provides a unique opportunity for students who want to get ahead in their coursework. Conveniences abound, including free parking and transportation by shuttle from MTA and LIRR stations. Course schedules are flexible, with over 700 class offerings, four sessions starting in June and July, classes in the early morning and late evening, and dozens of online options. And, because Queens College offers the earliest registration period of any college in the tristate area, students can plan far ahead to earn their degrees faster.

A Complete College Experience

Queens College offers the full package. In addition to excellent academic programs and student support services, QC students can enjoy a vibrant campus life and on-campus residence hall. The College offers more than 100 clubs and intramural sports, the FitzGerald Gymnasium, the Fitness Center, a newly renovated Olympic-size swimming pool, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and an outdoor track. And QC is the only CUNY college that participates in the highly competitive NCAA Division II athletics.

QC’s Summit Apartments provides a safe and affordable place for students to live where they learn. Amenities include study lounges on each floor, its own fitness center, music practice rooms, free Wi-Fi and cable TV, access to shuttle service or Zipcars and more.

The Queens College calendar is filled with concerts, art exhibitions, readings by renowned writers, presentations by inspiring speakers, and other cultural activities. QC’s Kupferberg Center for the Arts is a magnet for arts lovers who appreciate its diverse array of programs. And the Godwin-Ternbach Museum, QC’s free on-campus museum, houses more than 6,000 works of art. Additionally, the QC campus is located near downtown Flushing with its dazzling array of shops and dining spots.
