Find What You’re Looking for at Avila
You’re welcome at Avila University. With students from 27 different counties and nearly every state in the U.S., you’ll be surrounded by people just like you, while being exposed to a world of differences. Opened in 1916, the Avila community is guided by its Catholic identity as inspired by its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (if kick-butt, social justice activists are your thing, you’ll love the CSJ). Walking the talk of Avila’s mission and values, you’ll find opportunities around every corner to make a difference. Study immersion trips across the country and around the world. Social justice issues. Community outreach. Last year, Avila students volunteered more than 140,000 service hours in the community and around the world. Avila students graduate to become nurses, and teachers, and entrepreneurs, and legislators, and lawyers, and leaders in all sorts of industries, organizations, and communities. With 60 majors and minors, you’ll find your place in the world and follow your passions at Avila. You can get involved in more than 40 on-campus organizations and 14 NAIA varsity sports. Join the theatre (the Goppert Performing Arts Center will be completed just in time for your arrival!). Work on The Talon student media network. Strike up the band. Avila’s largest student organization is the Office of Ministry, Spirituality & Action (OMSA) and is open to all students of all beliefs. Another thing all traditional, resident undergraduate students enjoy is the Avila Promise. It starts with Avila’s on-time graduation guarantee. Graduating on-time is the absolute best way to lower the cost of your college degree. And at Avila, if you do your part, they’ll do theirs to make sure that happens, guaranteed. The next of the four-cornerstones is a guaranteed research or internship experience opportunity for every student, in every major. It’s exactly what employers and grad programs are looking for along with your stellar grades. The third cornerstone is tuition protection from unexpected tuition and fee hikes, which includes your books and standard campus fees in your tuition price. And the fourth leg of the Avila Promise is a travel award worth up to $1,000. Avila is putting its money where its beliefs are to help you experience new cultures, new ideas, and a broader perspective. Your next four years are going to be thrilling, overwhelming, inspiring, and challenging. Avila has resources, student support services, programs, scholarships, and campus life to make your transition to college and beyond successful.
