Experience Hands-On Learning and Internships at Shippensburg

Explore an education that’s not bound by a textbook, and learn from the hands-on experience that is a cornerstone of Shippensburg University. With thirteen nationally accredited programs and a 16-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio, Ship offers a quality and personalized education.

Business

Students seamlessly transition from the classroom to boardroom thanks to the skills they develop through the Diller Entrepreneur Center, by managing a quarter-million-dollar stock portfolio, and when connecting with a regional network of corporations and alumni — all that ensure successful internships that lead to career opportunities. The John L. Grove College of Business is internationally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Communication

Located in a Top 50 media market, students in Ship’s accredited communication/journalism program have landed internships that then developed into Emmy® award-winning careers. Practical experience starts well before internships, as students run and manage a campus newspaper, televised news program, and radio station. Graduates of the program are working in news stations across the country, including other Top 50 media markets such as Philadelphia and Nashville and working as public relations professionals for private firms, major health care corporations, state government agencies, and in higher education.

Education

Hands-on learning is the lifeblood of education majors who work with students at the only public elementary lab school in the state — located in the heart of campus — and build the network and experience to establish them as future leaders in the field of education.

Engineering

Ship’s School of Engineering has cutting-edge programs in civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, each uniquely committed to balancing theory and practical experience. In an exclusive collaboration between industry and classrooms, students apply real-life practice using industry-standard equipment from the beginning of the programs, which also gives students the great opportunity to network with prospective employers and alumni.
