Wright State Takes David to Yale

For David, it was the Boy Scouts that laid down a career path for him. It sparked his interest in project management and giving back to his community. Wright State had the programs that would help him achieve his dreams.

“What I would like to do is combine my knowledge of supply chain with my love for the social sector and nonprofits and be able to use that to work as a project manager or director of a global relief organization such as the American Red Cross,” said Baugham, whose father founded a nonprofit called Samaritan Outreach, which helps single mothers get back on their feet.

David also earned a certification in nonprofit management through Wright State’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, which provides training for the next generation of social services leaders.

“My experience as an Eagle Scout launched me into this idea of what it means to be a leader, what it means to manage a team and cast a vision,” he said.

David’s desire to give back expanded at Wright State. He became president of the Wright State chapter of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, held several positions in the Student Government Association including student body president, and volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital.

“One thing about Wright State is that if you want to be involved, if you want to be a leader, you can be a leader. The opportunity is definitely there,” he said. “It’s definitely given me confidence.”

Now David is at Yale University, where he is pursuing his master’s in public health in health care management with the Yale School of Management. Wright State got him there, and Wright State can help you, too.
