Danbury College Fair

Representatives from more than 200 two-year and four- year colleges, nursing schools, business schools, and trade schools will participate in the annual Danbury College and Vocational Fair which will be held on Monday, October 21st at the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury. Officers and enlisted personnel from the various branches of the military services will also be on hand to discuss the military’s enlistment and education programs such as R.O.T.C., the military academies and the GI Bill.

The Danbury College and Vocational Fair is sponsored by the Danbury High School Counseling Department. The information is free and comprehensive and will save parents and students a great deal of time and effort.

Each year, the Fair provides high school students and their parents an opportunity to interact with representatives from post–high school institutions. The representatives will discuss school settings, majors, registration process, specific courses, entrance requirements, athletics, scholarships, extracurricular acivities, etc. Adults who are considering further education or a change in their careers are also welcome.

In addition to asking questions, students and parents will be able to set up college interviews, pick up literature and learn about the various financial aid programs available.

Review the list of participating colleges and make a list of the booths you’d like to visit. You might also want to print out some labels or cards with your personal information — name, address, e-mail address, year of graduation, and anticipated major. Give these to the reps at the college booths. This preparation will allow you more time to speak with the representatives and to visit all the colleges on your list.

Read through this issue of College Fair Guide. There are many articles, charts, useful hints and items of informa- tion which will be helpful to you. The more prepared you are for the College Fair, the more you’ll get out of it.
