Thiel College Launches New Programs
Thiel College’s new graduate and traditional bachelor’s degree programs will get you to your goal faster. Thiel College has launched or began five master’s degree programs in the last year and has undertaken a refinancing plan that will upgrade many campus facilities and areas of vital infrastructure. Thiel College graduate programs: • Counseling • Leadership M.B.A. • Management M.B.A. • Physician Assistant Studies • Speech-Language Pathology In the summer of 2020, students at Thiel College began taking classes in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and in its Management M.B.A. and its Leadership M.B.A. programs. Joining those three graduate programs is the new Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies which will begin this summer and a new Master of Arts in Counseling. All of Thiel College’s graduate programs come with concentrated options for undergraduate students, who can graduate with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in just five years. Thiel College undergraduates can apply for one of the guaranteed spots in the Master’s degree programs. The College also has an innovative partnership with a local medical center to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. One survey projects that Pennsylvania alone will have a deficit of 4,000 nurses in the coming years. While all these programmatic changes are unfolding, the College is in the middle of a $16 million financial reinvestment plan that will upgrade facilities and give the College a facelift. Renovations will include improved study and collaborative areas, athletic facilities, and living accommodations. New lab spaces, which will include a cadaver lab for students in the physician assistant program, are also part of the project’s scope. Resilient and Evolving Other new programs at Thiel College include the Bachelor of Science in data analytics major which is part of the Department of Mathematics. Businesses and industries are using data analytics to draw conclusions from large sets of raw data and solve a wide range of complex problems and improve performance. Thiel College graduates will be prepared to enter a job field that according to an article in Forbes magazine is expected to have an estimated 2.7 million postings in the United States by 2020. Data analysts work in a variety of private and public sector organizations and do jobs similar to actuaries, who work in the insurance industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania are among the top states in the country for actuaries and data research analysts, with the greater Columbus, Cleveland, Erie and Pittsburgh metropolitan regions specifically being top employers. Thiel College’s Environmental Safety Management program continues to be a leader in Pennsylvania. It is one of only two programs recognized by the top auditing and review boards and will lead to streamlined certifications when a student graduates. The program opens the door for Thiel graduates to capitalize on growing market opportunities forecasted for Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York — the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has put that trio among the top five states expected to see the greatest job growth in the field. Students can also choose from new programs in sports management, health systems, exercise science and equestrian studies or select from one of the College’s other 60-plus majors and minors.
