Rhode Island Student Loan Authority Rewards and Forgiveness Programs
The Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) has created Rewards Forgiveness Programs to address the shortage of certain trained workers in the state and to create incentives for retaining these workers. Currently, the RISLA Rewards Program is open to individuals who participate in an approved internship while in college, and individuals who are working as nurses, nurse educators, licensed, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
The program offers loan forgiveness up to $2,000 after graduation.

Tuition Break
NEBHE’s Transfer Guarantee helps eligible New England students lower their tuition costs when they transfer into a bachelor’s program at an out-of-state public four-year college or university. Students are eligible when they enroll in an approved program that is not offered by the public colleges and universities in their home state – and sometimes they’re eligible when they live closer to an out-of-state college.
Cut tuition costs
Through Tuition Break, students are charged a “regional” tuition rate, which is lower than regular out-of-state-tuition. The average annual tuition discount is about $8,600.
Choose from hundreds of degree programs
More than 1,000 bachelor’s programs are offered through Tuition Break Transfer by New England’s public four-year colleges and universities.
Tuition Break varies by state and by institution. For more information contact: tuitionbreak@nebhe.org or telephone at 857-284-4879.
