As an honors student, you will receive individual advising, career counseling, priority registration, access to special facilities, and assistance with scholarship opportunities. Brooklyn College’s honors programs have produced students who have won such prestigious awards as Rhodes, Truman, and Gilman scholarships and Fulbright fellowships. You’ll have the opportunity to take seminars with visiting scholars and be given access to some of New York City’s most culturally and intellectually stimulating venues. Distinctive Academic Programs The newly opened Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema is the only public film school housed on a working film lot — Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Dedicated to cultivating new and emerging voices in cinema in a diverse and inclusive learning environment, the school offers an MA in cinema studies and MFAs in a wide range of studies. The school is located in a 68,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, fully professional facility. Among the Conservatory of Music’s newest programs are MFAs in media scoring and in sonic arts, both located at the Feirstein School. You will learn to create music for the media age and receive technical and real-world experience in these growing fields. Graduates of the new programs can go on to a variety of careers, such as composing and arranging music for television, video games, and multimedia, sound editing, and music producing. Student Life Beyond the classroom, Brooklyn College’s nearly 17,000 students have plenty of exciting social, volunteer, and civic options to explore.
