120 Years of Strategic Growth at Fisher College

From its beginning as a business school that opened in 1903, to the wide range of disciplines and degree programs of today, Fisher College has grown year after year. Its most recent surge in full-time day student enrollment is attributed to the addition of several attractive programs.

This small liberal arts, nonprofit college is located in Boston’s Back Bay, an area considered the beating heart of Boston. Here, a mix of retail, residential, and businesses are sited on Beacon Street with its seven alphabetical blocks of fabulous historic brownstone homes. Fisher’s historic brownstone locations around the Back Bay may be a huge draw for students who want to live in the city of Boston, but it’s the cutting-edge programs that have made the biggest impression to prospective students.

The Esports program began in 2022 and has since made a huge impact on increased enrollment. As one of the first Boston-area colleges to offer the program, Esports has attracted more than 100 students and counting, with competitions at Fenway Park and around the nation at typically sold-out events.

Also new to the campus is a state-of-the-art bio-lab, a research space for students majoring in biology and health sciences. The program director and professor, Dr. Seung-Hwan Kim, has students working with him on research into pediatric and childhood cancer with the aim of presenting two papers at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research in Florida in April this year.

The Fisher athletics department offers 10 NAIA Varsity Sports Teams that consistently leave a lasting impression with students who love participating in sports.

“My favorite thing about playing collegiate volleyball is all the amazing memories I get to make with my teammates while traveling… I wouldn’t change those memories for the world,” said Aya Al-Jurashi, a senior on Fisher’s Women’s Volleyball team.

A robust student activities department has Fisher spirits soaring with outlets for local adventures and events around the greater Boston area. The on-campus Drama Club productions, fashion shows, and regular author reading events on campus are a few student favorites.

For prospective students, numerous opportunities are available to acquire an education and gain tools for future career success, including tailor made internship programs. In fact, some students parlay their internship experience into their initial employment after college.
