Who Will UBecome?

Maybe you already know exactly what you want to study, where you want to go, and what comes next.

Or maybe you’re still figuring it out.

That’s okay!

College is supposed to give you room to explore. To try something new. To discover where you excel, what you care about, and even a few things you didn’t know about yourself.

At University of Bridgeport, you’ll have plenty of ways to find out who you can become.

Located on 56 acres along Long Island Sound in Bridgeport, Connecticut, UB brings together career-focused academics, NCAA Division II athletics, a diverse campus community, and nearly 100 years of history — all within easy reach of New York City and Boston. And yes, there’s no application fee, and we’re test-optional, but that is just the beginning.

Start with the View

Some colleges have a quad. We have a whole coastline.

And our backyard has a résumé of its own: Seaside Park, 325+ acres of shoreline right outside our backdoor, was designed by the same team behind NYC’s Central Park.

Live in a residence hall with an ocean view. Head to the newly renovated fitness center, meet friends in our eSports lounge or neon-lit bowling alley, join one of 25+ clubs and organizations, or catch a concert a few blocks away at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater.

And here’s a little campus trivia: Part of UB’s history traces back to P.T. Barnum’s Seaside Park estate. Yes, that P.T. Barnum.

Find Something Worth Getting Curious About

“What do you want to be?” is a pretty big question.

That’s why UB gives you options. With 25+ undergraduate degree programs spanning nursing, dental hygiene, engineering, computer science, business, education, health sciences, and more, you can explore your interests while building skills and experience.

You’ll learn in classrooms and labs, but you won’t stay there. Research, internships, student projects, and opportunities to work alongside faculty let you put what you’re learning into practice.

Have an idea? Start building. Interested in solving a problem? Dig in. Still deciding what your thing is? That works, too.

You don’t have to know where you’re headed on day one. You just have to be ready to start.

University of Bridgeport

Come for the Game. Stay for the Community.

Purple looks pretty good with a championship trophy. UB is home to 23 NCAA Division II teams, giving student-athletes plenty of opportunities to compete — and everyone else plenty of reasons to get loud in the stands.

In 2025-2026 alone, our Purple Knights brought home four conference championships, including women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, men’s swimming and diving, and women’s softball, plus a DII National Gymnast of the Year.

The wins aren’t limited to the playing field. Purple Knights regularly earn academic honors while balancing practices, workouts, game schedules, and classes. Around here, being a student-athlete and being serious about your education aren’t competing ideas. They’re part of the same game plan.

Being First is Kind of Our Thing.

UB turns 100 in 2027, and innovation has been part of our story from the beginning.

UB began as New England’s first junior college. The world’s first school of dental hygiene started here. We continued that tradition by launching Connecticut’s first master’s degree in artificial intelligence before AI was trendy.

Nearly a century after first opening our doors, Purple Knights are still asking big questions, testing ideas, and figuring out what comes next. We’re not interested in doing things simply because that’s how they’ve always been done.

Invest in Your Future

College is an investment. UB works with you to make your investment more manageable. In 2025-2026, UB awarded $14.9 million in merit-based scholarships. Students can also access grants, work-study opportunities, and outside scholarships.

When you apply to UB, you’ll automatically be considered for merit scholarships. And because applying to college already comes with enough things to think about, UB is free to apply and test-optional for first-year students. Fewer hurdles between you and what comes next.

Keep Going

A college education should prepare you for more than graduation day. At UB, career development resources are available to you from day one and can help you explore careers, prepare résumés, practice interviewing, find internships, and build professional connections. And when you’re ready to keep learning, UB gives you room to keep going, with programs ranging from certificates through doctoral degrees.

Becoming doesn’t happen all at once. It happens when you try the class you weren’t sure about. When you join the team. Take the internship. Find the people who make campus feel like home. Change direction. Discover something new. And keep going.

You don’t need your entire future mapped out before you get here. There’s more than one way to be a Purple Knight, and countless paths to your future.
